The intelligence explosion. Few concepts intrigue me like this one does. But ever since ChatGPT first launched in 2022 it kept becomming a recurring theme and topic for discussion. I remember seeing a youtube video about exactly this and thinking that LOL I came up with the exact same concept. What if AI would work on it's own codebase? Even if it were to just improve 1 line, or 1% or 1 anything, it would be better than the last. I loved and hated the concept at the same time. But now we seem to be living it more than ever. AI has brought upon many great new things to society, altough it may have also worsened some aspects of life. Since I don't concern myself here with the metric of moral, i will purely base my opinion of economic metrics. And by that measure AI not just succeeded, but destroyed all expectations. Humorously I also gave the Idea of the AI bubble a lot of thought. And always came to the conclusion that NEXT month or NEXT quarter it will happen. But simply it doesnt concern me. The math behind it (or rather the reasoning is simple, attained through first principles th.). Companies are valued at 50x-250x their EBIDTA which is absurd and stupid and makes no economical sense, but what you are doing is buying a ticket to the New World. For retail investing bullshit, you are gonna fail, but that rich people value them so high, I can understand. Either way, once open to retail investors, everything and I mean EVERYTHING will come down.

1. Old World

To enable discussion about the new world, we first need to establish the old (current) world. The following are my personal views and observations:

• Wealth Inequality has never been greater,.
• Globalization destroyed all boundaries,.
• The need to fit in and the need to be different have never been so strong and so contradicting,.
• Short Form Media has damaged more people in history than any other technology,.
• The average person is becoming less intelligent (even if iq might indicate otherwise, when you outsource your full thinking, are you really becoming smarter?),.
• Harmful trends and obsessive behaviours are forced to be accepted and to be lived by everyone in society,.
• The virtual entrapment is near unescapable. (all of these points are very bad, and while there are also numerous good claims about the current world, but you need to remember that this is in fact a doomsday paper)

I seem to have all the dots, but not the strings to connect them. I grasp with every thought for these ideas but can't seem to advance in my reasoning. Precisely the last point is what I do not understand. The more I discuss the future with my friends from my math class, the more they tell me "financial freedom". Achieve it and you will become happy. And it too has been all that I am working towards. But I have the premonition that it wery well may not be what is fullfilling - How beautiful it must have been to live as a Farmer in the 1900s. The only sort of news you ever got were from the paper and nowhere else. You had fullfillment through work and your family and did not have the full picture. Or to frame it better, the full picture did not exist. Every time I open twitter, nothing other than a taste of loosing is what I get fed. The idea with beeing succesful is what everyone wants. This embodies my short form media argument.

The problem is not the globality of the world, but rather the fear of mediocrity. Every one has a cousin, who goes to university x, or knows a guy who does y. The rise of social media has amplified this into something 1000x worse. While not everyone might experience all of the above, it is very much the reality (even when reality is a rather subjective thing) and you might cope with these, but they still hold generally true.

These are fundamentally the problems of the new time. Their source is not capitalism as many might think, I stricly believe capitalism is a good system, but the identity crisis. I believe it to be more of a psychological problem, and through that a cultural and societal problem. Our generation very well might be one of the first were billionaires are betrayed as real life super heroes and idols. One of my favourite persons to point out in the past is Daniel K. Ludwig. One of the most extreme cases of extreme wealth with an unheard of name. The ratio between his wealth-to-obscurity ratio is argumentably untoppable. While might one argue that there exist other billionaires, who lives in complete privacy, they are exceptions and far very far from the "normal" billionaire.

Every person of my generation desires to become a billionaire, but they are do not understand the world . Only the few who desire greatness (and not wealth) are contestants for the pool.

I believe there has never been a time in which it was so difficult and yet so achievable to such a goal. The precious thing about this all only the smallest percentile has a shot. I am unable to word it, but what separates the few from the many is not ambition — everyone has that — but the capacity to see the trap while standing inside it.

Everyone desires greatness, and what is desired even more in todays time is simplicity. Everyone is trying to take shortcuts while achieving everything. We live in a complete complete lie and contradiction.

Nobody wants to work hard and yet achieve with little what takes a lot.

This is the contradiction of our time. While these empty dreams fuel the people, they are chasing an unrealistic goal.

2. New World

After having established a foundation for the current state of the world, it is time to generate future outcomes. In particular the new world. Never in society have there been this many technological advancements in such short time. The world is moving at a sonics pace and while everyone knows it, it is upmost impossible to understand it. Our brains are very limited in what they can predict. Putting it into a whole idea space is the hardest. Formalizing these thoughts and making realistic predictions, not feasible.

So contradictingly I will try to put my thoughts on paper. So id like to present you with three ideas.

1. Doomsday

I am not considering a future in which our own inventions destroy us. I am talking about economical desasters, ending in wars and utter chaos. Society will collapse. The intelligence explosion is far too extreme and the power will go to those with the resources (wealth and power). It has far been known that knowledge is power, so what if the people in power achieve unlimited intelligence (or far greater intelligence than anyone else). The wealth concentration will worsen. The Power concentration will worsen. The normal person will not have any control outside of their very basic lives. I believe it to be a very realistic scenario, that a power society will deem 80% of lives useless and develop a virus to kill them. If the Doomsday scenario occurs, I believe this to be one of the most realistic steps for the power society to undertake.

There is no possibility of sharing the earth, without this happening.

It is the only logical conclusion. The remaining people will create a new world and in that process live the best time ever lived on the earth. A new order will emerge in which the resource gathering is automated and the remaining humanity will find it's way back to a simpler living. They will live peacefully, with technology ensuring their survival and will live village like in smaller groups and build the new world. The world will be dismissed of any bad and society will emerge as perfect...

2. The middle Ground

In this potential future advancements in technology and ai will still cause an intelligence explosion and more wealth concentration. But instead of developing the devastating virus, a new way of living will emerge (or rather be created).

I'd like to consider this the sword art online or good matrix ending: The theme which both share is that the playground in which live takes place will change to the virtual. Advanced virtual reality headset will allow in some time in the future to simulate new worlds withing the brain.

In the following statements the real world will refer to the world we currently live in. The virtual world refers to a videogame-y simulation.

I am unsure if anyone other person has ever brought up this idea; it is a simple idea of my own: The brain interacts with the real world through interfaces, such as the eyes, ears and nose. Since all these interfaces are in essence just power-transformers, which transform something such as light into an electrical signal, which gets send to the brain, there is no reason, not for it to be able to be stimulated by "just" electrical signals. Consider recording the exact electrical signals coming form an eye, while a person is watching a video and capturing them. By precisely stimulating the nerves which conduct the signals to the brain with the exact same electrical signals, it would be possible into tricking the brain into seeing something which is not visible.

After succesfully reverse engineering this process fully (which is nowhere impossible through machine learning) it will also be possible to show any image input directly into the brain, as if seen by the eyes. The implications for this are endless, and while the first thought might be to cure blindess (which will also be achieved through this way), the real use of this technology will be To create videogames far more realistic than anything before. By biological standards; it can't get any more realistic. Same will be achieved for full body and mind simulation.

In the best case this will end in a society such as Ready Player One's (all societal life takes place inside a big video game) and in the worst case will bring upon us something in the direction of Darling in the FranXX (simply stimulating the dopamine receptors for unlimited happiness).

One might bring up the question of resources, and will I believe it will be a problem for some aspects, it may largely be ignored.
